Simulscan 4 is a web application, based on a webkit. It's a training tool both for screeners and trainers.
SECURITY X-RAY MACHINE AVIATION TRAINING
The training on Simulscan platform meets all application requirements, as well as the standards set out in EU Regolation 2015/1998, Chapter 11, letter b), third paragraph (and subsequent EU Regulations and integrations).
Main features of the training:
RANDOMIZATION OF THE PRESENTATION OF LUGGAGE
Based on a system of randomization of the presentation of bags and contents, the system ensures that the screeners who are trained at the same time and place do not interfere each other in the process of analysis and decision making.
PROCEDURAL APPROACH
Simulscan is based on a procedural approach to the recognition and analysis of the images of bags. Screeners have different possibilities during their decision procedure: they can rotate the baggage of 90°, split the contents in case of electronic devices, perform a physical search of the contents and even use an ETD (Explosive Trace Detector) in case of suspect explosive, simulating therefore a real situation in a real context.
PASS, ALARM, HOLD
Screeners' analysis ends with final decision:
PASS: the bag does not contain any threat
ALARM: the type of prohibited item requests the intervention of police
HOLD: the type of prohibited item can be solved by the screener applying further procedures such as physical search and the use of ETD
SCORES AND TRACKING
The procedural operations and screening decisions in Simulscan are all tracked and stored. A complex system of attribution of scores allows the trainer to monitor all the operations performed by the users, timing and difficulty level (accesses, time) and the quality of his performance (procedures, decisions).
Simulscan has three different levels of difficulty together with eight different types of categories of threats. That allows the trainer to filter training courses customizing screeners' weakness with the proper level and category of threat.
IMAGE LIBRARY
In addition, the image database of acquisitions of bags is continuously renewed with high quality images that are not created by a software but by our experts one after the other with REAL BAGS AND REAL THREATS, positioned in different angles and assembled in different ways and concealment. This is the distinctive feature of Simulscan and this is why screeners and trainers using our system find a reality very similar to airport bagagage handling systems, air cargo warehouses, etc.
MOBILE TRAINING
Simulscan 4 is available also for tablets and mobile phones through the official free app for Android and iPad.
FULL MANAGEMENT TRAINING
Simulscan 4 platform allows the trainer to customize the training programme according to his final users thanks to the flexibility of our system.
PERSONAL AND TIMING OF SESSIONS
The administrator can manage all the data of his customers or employees and can create course - events, also online courses, can access to the historical archive of the courses, can monitor billing and contracts in place.
The manager of the course - training or examination - is able to create different sessions based on two very important variables for the comprehensive training of the user: the level of difficulty and the type of threat.
LEVELS OF DIFFICULTY
The instructor, when creating a course-event, can choose contexts bag images from 3 levels of difficulty.
Level I
Contexts that can be solved without applying actions or procedures, the final decision is objectively direct and simple.
Level II
Contexts whose correct resolution requires the application of at least one specific procedure, the final decision cannot be direct.
Level III
Complex contexts (overlapping, radiopaque areas, objects difficult to understand, etc.) that need to be solved by the application of multiple procedures.
REPORT AND REVIEW
Simulscan offers the trainer a powerful and detailed monitoring tool not only for the single performance, but also for the progress of the user.
The module keeps track of some very important aspects for learning effectiveness: the ability to interpret contexts and to recognize the potential threats, the time taken to complete all procedures and necessary decisions and the skill in relation to the difficulty in recognizing the individual context.
The aggregated data can then help the revealing of the weaknesses of the screener, for example by analyzing the time required to make decisions or difficulty encountered in contexts with the same threats, etc.
Thanks to the advanced tracking system of the user experience, the datacenter of Simulscan.com will always be available at any time with all the reporting tools required in the international regulations, so it's easy to collect the documentation of attendance at courses for requesting the professional certificate.
CERTIFICATES OF ATTENDANCE
Simulscan also gives to the trainer the possibility of seasrching any data of the screeners past, of monitoring the cycles of continuous training (6 hours per 6 months) frequency and export the report in PDF format, ready to be signed and used as an official certificate.
Simulscan 4 is able to generate specific reports that may be required for both single and multiple training.
Report for the Security Manager
The Security Manager, or deputy, may view and print the following tables:
- Overall Performance (average of the scores and total time) for single user and for all the screeners on a monthly, six-months or three-years period
- Possibility to verifyn the screeners who carried out the tests on a monthly basis, who started tests and who have to connect for the first time
- Analysis of individual performance specifications, on a month, six-months or three-years period; monitoring of each single screener operational capabilities
Report for the Instructor
The instructor can view and print the following tables:
- Overall assessment of each user and analytics of the whole class to check the progress and individual training gaps
- Verification of the monthly, six-months and three year performance for the issue of training certificates, bearing the average of the scores obtained and the total playing time
- Performance analysis for individual customized training interventions on learners
Report for the Competent Authority
The Competent Authority (or other interested entities) may view and print the following tables:
- Six-months and three years report with an indication of the average scores (interpretation of images and overall evaluation) of the total playing time and the name of the certified instructor
- Specific analysis of individual performances for the purpose of in-depth analysis of the screener's path, at the time of initial certification and re-certification every three years
